There are many reasons we love Subarus, and the WRX is one of them. An unassuming Impreza on the outside, but a turbocharged, 224-hp rocket on the inside, it is more than a little bit ironic all by itself. Indeed, with a 0-to-60 time of just 5.8 seconds, it has that sneaky sort of quickness that catches muscle car drivers unaware in impromptu stoplight wars.

But it’s going to be the WRX driver that’ll be surprised when the driver of an even less assuming, nearly full-sized Toyota Camry V-6 runs nose-to-nose with the much smaller WRX through 60 mph and all the way to the quarter-mile mark.

Add in the fact that the Camry V-6 is available with many top-dollar features not available on the WRX, has far more upscale size and interior design, and has a base price that’s nearly $1000 less, and the Camry is a whopper of a stealth-speed bargain.

The Subaru Wrx-Sti is a fast car. On the track, it's an amazingly quick car with superb handling. This video makes you want to run to a Subaru dealer and buy an STI and go to a local track and start drifting. This just seems way too fun. I find this from a marketing point to be a odd, because they show all those accidents and flips. It makes you think like better not do that, or Subarus must have bad handling, they shouldn't have showed the accidents in my opinion, but nonetheless AWESOME! ENJOY!

The Subaru Impreza will make it’s first UK appearance at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC in January and today Subaru announced its pricing. The Sti will be a little above $51,000. The Impreza WRX STi is powered by a 305 hp 2.5 liter turbo flat 4-cylinder engine, sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and tops 155.3 mph. The First deliveries for the new model are expected next March. That is so much money for a 4cyl Subaru but still is is fast. I would rather have a Bmw 335i that is about same price or even i think a little cheaper about same speed and has a nice twin turbo sounding inline 6 cylinder and just completely looks nicer than a Subaru, the Subaru is a nice car don’t get me wrong but i mean the Bmw has more head turning power and looks nicer and holds better brand wise, and is just a better car all around. LA 2007: 2008 Subaru WRX STI priced at $34,995

The Subaru Impreza STI just made its North American debut, and for those of us here in the States, life is good. Just like the JDM version, the STI benefits from a wider track and a longer wheelbase, but power is provided by Subaru’s 2.5-liter boxer four making 305 hp and 290 lb.-ft. of torque. The sprint to sixty will be dispatched in 4.9 seconds, and Subie execs are touting the engine’s new torque characteristics as more tractable and effortlessly exciting. Aluminum suspension components partner with inverted struts to keep all four wheels planted and providing motivation, while a redesigned DCCD allows drivers to select six different differential settings.

Pricing has been set at $34,995 and Subaru began taking orders today. Check out Subaru’s official press release after the jump and our gallery of high-res live shots below.
