<p>Jaguar is keeping up with the automotive technology and luxury run. The new Jaguar XJ is a perfect example. Extensive engineering has gone into this XJ from the lightweight aluminum construction, 3.0 liter V6 engine, an innovative dual view central touch screen system, full length panoramic roof, etc. A simple look at the new XJ will explain it all. </p>

<p>For the flagship Jaguar XJ luxury saloon, a suite of enhancements to the interior and options list includes a new Rear Seat Comfort package, which incorporates electric recline, lumbar adjustment and massage functions to reinforce the ultimate executive limousine experience.</p>
<p>These three cars are the result of a design and technology revolution at Jaguar, led by award-winning Design Director Ian Callum, the architect of the company&#8217;s future success:</p>
<p>&#8220;The world has been introduced to an entirely new generation of Jaguars in the past few years. With the new product range, today&#8217;s Jaguar is at full-strength for the first time. The 2012 XK, XF and XJ are design-led products that break new boundaries. We believe our cars resonate with customers on an emotional level and that&#8217;s reflected both in the way they drive and the way they look.&#8221;</p>
<p>At-A-Glance</p>
<p>    • Pioneering lightweight aluminium construction delivers superior agility and economy<br />
    • Bold, beautiful styling re-energises the Jaguar design language.<br />
    • The existing range of powerful, efficient powerplants is supplemented by Jaguar&#8217;s 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine (market specific).<br />
    • Available in both standard and long-wheelbase versions, the latter providing even more luxurious accommodation for passengers.<br />
    • New Rear Seat Comfort package is available on both wheelbase variants and includes electric recline, lumbar adjustment and massage functions.<br />
    • Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the car and managed via an innovative dual-view central Touch-screen.<br />
    • New Executive Package helps allow the long-wheelbase derivative to function more effectively as a mobile business centre.<br />
    • Optional Illumination Package offers the ambient lighting effects previously only available on the range-topping Supersport variant.<br />
    • New interior colour combinations have been added by customer request.</p>
<p>The original XJ was the last car designed by Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons and the latest car to wear the nameplate is as innovative, beautiful and desirable as its famous forebear.</p>
<p>Revolutionary, not evolutionary, the XJ is truly a product of the 21st century and is the clearest indication yet of the singular sense of purpose behind Design Director Ian Callum&#8217;s vision for the future of Jaguar.</p>
<p>The unique full-length panoramic glass roof that floods the cabin with natural light allows the XJ to offer an unrivalled sense of spaciousness and occasion for driver and passengers and at the same time retain the sleek coupé-like profile and lithe stance for which Jaguars are famous.</p>
<p>Lightweight aluminium architecture</p>
<p>The mould- breaking styling is matched by similarly impressive construction techniques pioneered by Jaguar. The lightweight aluminium structure &#8211; 50 percent of which is made from recycled materials &#8211; offers improved fuel consumption and reduced emissions. In conjunction with a lifecycle approach to design and manufacture this allows the XJ to minimise its carbon footprint.</p>
<p>The weight saved by the use of aluminium &#8211; an average of 150kg compared to its rivals &#8211; also has benefits for performance and agility and is complemented by the most advanced, powerful and efficient Jaguar powertrains ever. The choice of engines has been enlarged for the 2012 range with the fitment of a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine (market specific). All engines are coupled to a shift-by-wire, six-speed automatic transmission controlled by the JaguarDrive Selector or steering wheel-mounted paddles.</p>
<p>Contemporary cabin</p>
<p>The cabin of the XJ blends elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar. Chrome and piano black detailing provides an eye-catching contrast to the beautifully-crafted leather and wood veneer surfaces. Both standard and long-wheelbase models are available, for an even more sumptuous and refined experience for rear seat passengers.</p>
<p>Advanced new technology has allowed Jaguar&#8217;s interior designers to create an environment more akin to a state-of-the-art living space than a car cabin. Stunning 12.3-inch high-definition virtual instruments complement an innovative Dual-view 8-inch Touch-screen that allows the passenger to view DVD movies or TV programmes while the driver is provided with vehicle functions or satellite-navigation directions.</p>
<p>Premium surround sound options include the top-of-the-range 1200W Bowers &#038; Wilkins system that is comparable in audio quality to the best in-home entertainment. Advanced infotainment features also include hard-drive based audio and navigation systems and comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices via the powerful Media Hub.</p>
<p>2012 enhancements</p>
<p>Subtle enhancements to the cabin are now available for the 2012 XJ range to allow greater personalization and flexibility of use. A new Rear Comfort Pack offers seats that now feature electric adjustment of the backrest recline angle, four-way lumbar support and a massage function. Increased comfort is also provided by new winged headrests, footrests and the ability for the front passenger seat to be stowed away forwards when unoccupied to increase legroom even further.</p>
<p>On the long-wheelbase Portfolio derivative a new &#8216;Executive Pack&#8217; transforms the rear of the XJ into a high-speed mobile office space with the provision of fold-down laptop trays and an electric rear sunblind for increased privacy. The package also includes upgraded carpeting, combination wood and leather steering wheel, gloss wood veneer choices and chrome mirror housings.</p>
<p>Jaguar has always listened closely to customer feedback and in the case of the XJ, this has led to a new interior colour combination. Available with the Premium Luxury and Portfolio trim levels the Jet/Ivory option features ivory seating with contrast jet stitching, piping and upper surfaces while the headlining is available in either colour, according to customer preference.</p>
<p>All XJ variants are now available with an Illumination Package derived from that offered as standard on the Supersport model. This comprises illuminated treadplates, boot latch and front and rear air vents.</p>
<p>&#8220;An XJ should be the ultimate in comfort, design and refinement. The bespoke interior changes we have incorporated for the 2012 model make it an even more special car to drive or be driven in.&#8221;</p>

<p>High-end refinement for a unique luxury sedan: At the Geneva Motor Show 2011 STARTECH (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 20 41 / 777 547, fax + 49 / (0) 20 41 / 777 111, Internet www.startech.de) presents the exclusive sport program for the Jaguar XJ series in a world debut. The product lineup includes a striking aerodynamic-enhancement kit, custom-tailored 21-inch forged wheels and custom refinement options for the interior.</p>
<p>The flat roofline that tapers off in the rear into a shape that approaches that of a fastback gives Jaguar a unique feature among luxury sedans that immediately catches the eye. The STARTECH designers have developed complementing body components that make the XJ even more unique. All aerodynamic-enhancement components are manufactured in OEM quality.</p>
<p>The face of the four-door car receives some added profile with the STARTECH front attachment that is mounted to the production bumper. The design with generously dimensioned air inlets lends the XJ a sportier appearance while its sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. LED daytime running lights integrated into the side air inlets optimize active safety in traffic.</p>
<p>From the sides the English luxury sedan captivates with the STARTECH element for the front fenders. Its integrated air outlets lend the Jaguar XJ a sportier outfit. Design elements for the rocker panels attach ahead of the rear wheel arches and complement the fender elements.</p>
<p>An innovative STARTECH upgrade is also applied to the rear. The new rear apron features an integrated diffuser and two integrated design panels with striking STARTECH looks. They are combined with two STARTECH stainless-steel rear mufflers.</p>
<p>A subtle rear spoiler lip on the trunk lid creates an optimal aerodynamic balance.</p>
<p>To make full use of the available space in the wheel wells of the new Jaguar XJ and to round out the STARTECH designer suit effectively, special version of the STARTECH Monostar J Diamond Edition wheels were developed. The three-piece forged wheels are mounted in sizes 9.0Jx21 and 10.5Jx21. They feature mirror-polished surfaces and sections with titanium look, and represent a perfect symbiosis of low weight and top quality. State-of-the-art forging technology makes these wheels especially light despite their high mechanical strength. The lower unsprung weight has positive effects on handling as do the wider high-performance tires in sizes 255/35 ZR 21 in front and 295/30 ZR 21 on the rear axle.</p>
<p>The new British luxury automobile also offers an excellent platform for exclusive interior refinement à la STARTECH. The interior designers offer a multitude of different leather and Alcantara colors, which are masterfully transformed by the company upholstery shop into custom interiors at the highest level of craftsmanship.</p>
<p>The show car for the Geneva Motor Show features a black exterior and a contrasting STARTECH cream-colored all-leather interior made from especially soft and breathable Mastik leather. Exquisite details are the precision-sewn seams on the dashboard and the sporty upholstery design of seats and leather flooring, which is stitched with unique precision using more than 5,000 meters of thread.</p>
<p>An absolute highlight that impressively demonstrates the quality of the STARTECH refinement is the elaborate wood trim for the sedan. Black, high-gloss polished piano wood was meticulously adorned by hand with ship-veneer-like inlays.</p>
<p>The STARTECH electronics specialists have developed a state-of-the-art multimedia system centered on an Apple iPad to give owners of a Jaguar XJ the opportunity to be always online or enjoy entertainment in the rear compartment. Electrically deployed tables, adapted perfectly to the back of the front seats with leather-covered consoles, feature custom-tailored recesses for the tablet computer and the Bluetooth keyboard from Apple. A GSM/WLAN modem with an antenna integrated into the vehicle and hidden from sight provides high-speed internet access via HSDPA/UMTS or via a local WLAN network.</p>
<p>STARTECH also offers a wide range of fancy accessories such as high-gloss polished stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated STARTECH logo and high-quality color-coordinated floor mats with leather borders. STARTECH aluminum pedals add notably sporty highlights.</p>

(from Jaguar Press Release)  JAGUAR TO LAUNCH XKR-S AND CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF E-TYPE IN GENEVA</p>
<p>Jaguar will launch its most potent series production car ever, the all-new XKR-S, at the Geneva motorshow on March 1.</p>
<p>This all-new model will significantly broaden the appeal of the XK range, offering enthusiastic drivers a compelling, fresh choice in the luxury GT class.</p>
<p>With an uprated supercharged V8 engine, overhauled suspension and a new aerodynamically-driven design, the XKR-S is the ultimate expression of Jaguar’s long held duality of purpose: GT luxury with incredible performance.</p>
<p>“The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar,” said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director. “We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance.”</p>
<p>The XKR-S produces 550PS and 680Nm of torque, enough power to offer a top speed of 186mph (300km/h). Its performance credentials speak for themselves: 0-60mph takes 4.2 seconds, with 0-100mph dismissed in just 8.6 seconds.</p>
<p>The XKR-S is not merely the quickest Jaguar ever, but also the most agile, responsive and driver-focused. It exploits the XK’s strong, lightweight aluminium body architecture to maximise both handling and economy. Alongside its incredible performance, the XKR-S is the only car in its class that emits less than 300g/km CO2.</p>
<p>Bespoke suspension changes to the front and rear offer ultimate precision, control and driver appeal, while a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system allows the enthusiastic driver to explore the edges of the handling envelope.</p>
<p>Full details, images and video of the XKR-S will be available on Geneva press day – March 1.</p>
<p>Alongside the exciting new XKR-S, Jaguar will be marking the 50th anniversary of the E-Type with the first in a series of celebrations that take place during 2011.</p>
<p>Jaguar will be hosting E-Type drives at the Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva, where the original car was launched by the marque’s founder Sir William Lyons half a century ago.</p>
<p>The appeal of E-Type transcended the automotive world. Such is the inherent rightness of its proportions, stance and purity of line, that it is a permanent exhibit in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.</p>
<p>Its influence is still apparent in Jaguar’s modern range &#8211; products that offer a peerless blend of performance, comfort, cutting-edge technology and award-winning design.</p>
<p>“It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-Type had,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director. “Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. We’re looking forward to celebrating achievement and looking forward with our all-new sports cars in Geneva.”</p>

<blockquote><p>(from Jaguar Press Release)  Jaguar Introduces All-New XJ Sedan Range for 2011</p>
<p>Jaguar has introduced an all-new XJ sedan range for 2011, blending the sleek lines of the brand’s new design language with its latest generation engines and chassis systems. Six model variants include standard and long-wheelbase (XJL) versions, the latter adding an additional five inches of rear legroom. The XJ’s interior is the most luxurious ever offered in a Jaguar, blending the latest infotainment technology and a wide choice of leather and wood finishes.</p>
<p>The all-new 2011 XJ is very much a driver’s car, agile and spirited, but without compromise to comfort. The model range includes the XJ with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8; the XJ Supercharged with a 470-hp supercharged version of the engine, and the limited-production XJ Supersport powered by a 510-hp supercharged version. An XJ Supersport can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds yet is not subject to the Federal “gas guzzler” tax.</p>
<p>The new XJ is based on the next-generation of Jaguar’s lightweight vehicle architecture. Primarily aluminum, but also utilizing magnesium and composite alloys, it yields a significantly lighter and stiffer body structure than one built from steel. The construction technique employs the same aerospace-based riveting and bonding processes refined by Jaguar on the XK models and previous-generation XJ sedans.</p>
<p>New for 2011, all Jaguar models come standard with Jaguar Platinum Coverage, which includes for 5 years or 50,000 miles (which ever comes first) complimentary scheduled maintenance, no-cost replacement of basic wear and tear items including: brake pads and discs, oil and brake fluid changes and wiper blade inserts, 5 year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance.</p>
<p>All-New Powertrains</p>
<p>All 2011 XJ models are powered by variants of the AJ-V8 Gen III 5.0-liter V8 first introduced on the 2010 XF and XK models. The all-aluminum four-cam Jaguar V8 engines combine high power with high efficiency, thanks to such technologies as spray-guided direct fuel injection and dual independent variable cam timing, plus a variable inlet manifold on the naturally aspirated engine. On the XJ Supercharged and Supersport models, a twin vortex system (TVS) supercharger and twin water-cooled intercoolers are efficiently packaged in the engine’s V.</p>
<p>All XJ engines have 15,000-mile or one-year service intervals with free scheduled maintenance for the first 5 years or 50,000 miles courtesy of Jaguar Platinum Coverage.</p>
<p>All Jaguar XJ models employ an electronically controlled, fully adaptive six-speed automatic transmission with the unique cast-alloy JaguarDrive Selector™ as well as the Jaguar Sequential Shift™ function operated by steering-wheel paddles. The illuminated stop/start button pulsates like a heartbeat until pressed, when, as part of the XJ’s “handshake” sequence, the JaguarDrive Selector rises from the center console. The JaguarDrive Selector lowers automatically when the engine is stopped.</p>
<p>Bold, Confident Exterior; Architectural Interior Design</p>
<p>The nose of the XJ follows Jaguar’s new design language, with a powerful mesh grille and slim standard xenon headlights creating a strong road presence. The strong, muscular lower half of the car is contrasted with the slim and graceful quality of the roofline. The wrap-around rear window gives the impression of an exotic &#8220;floating&#8221; roof. A panoramic glass roof, standard on all XJ models, enhances the sense of light and space inside the all-new XJ.</p>
<p>Inside the XJ, the clean, simple form of the leather-wrapped instrument panel sitting low across the vehicle dominates. At the sides, bold architectural wood sweeps forward from the rear doors through the front doors, meeting at center of the upper dashboard. An analog clock inspired by luxury wristwatches is located in the center of the lower dashboard. The panoramic glass roof opening mechanism slides the front glass panel upwards and outwards, preserving headroom. The roof’s dark tint and reflective coating help limit heat gain, and twin electric blinds provide another level of privacy and sun screening.</p>
<p>A 12.3-inch high-definition screen displays “virtual gauges” to provide the functions of traditional instrument dials. The center dial houses a speedometer, flanked on either side by a tachometer, and an information window with fuel and temperature gauges. When required, the tachometer fades to temporarily display a required warning message or menu &#8212; for example, if fuel is running low, or to operate the Interactive VoiceTM control. When the driver selects the XJ’s Dynamic mode, the dials change to a red hue and feature a bold gear position indicator that glows red as engine speed rises.</p>
<p>An 8-inch touch-screen display in the center console provides easy access to many of the XJ’s functions, including climate control, audio, communications and navigation. Jaguar&#8217;s latest-generation Interactive VoiceTM control system provides easy control of the standard Bluetooth®, navigation or audio systems.</p>
<p>Jaguar Luxury</p>
<p>A full secondary bulkhead, laminated windshield and door glass, streamlined aerodynamics and an optimized body structure endow the 2011 XJ with a tranquil cabin. When driven enthusiastically, however, the XJ projects an inspiring engine soundtrack. Luxurious leather adorns all of the main interior surfaces, including the seats, the instrument panel, door tops, center console and armrests. Twin-needle stitching highlights seams on the seats, and each door panel integrates a storage compartment inspired by high-quality, hand-stitched designer briefcases. The limited-production XJ Supersport model features a leather headliner, semi-aniline leather seats and woods with laser-generated inlays.</p>
<p>The XJ’s range of daring color and trim selections, accented by elegant switchgear and soft blue lighting, offers increased interior personalization. Eight different mirror-matched woods are available, depending on model, and carbon fiber and piano black finishes are also available. The four spherical dash vents contrast a high-gloss piano black finish with chromed metal trim, a combination repeated on the center console.</p>
<p>The regular-wheelbase XJ model has a standard dual-zone automatic climate control system; all others have a four-zone system, with separate controls and ventilation outlets for the left and right rear seat passengers. All XJ models come standard with heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats and heated steering wheel. Massage front seats and cooled rear seats are also standard or available, depending on model.</p>
<p>Multimedia Capabilities</p>
<p>The all-new XJ comes standard with a CD/DVD player, HD radio, and a SIRIUSTM satellite radio receiver. In addition, the Media Hub provides flexible connectivity through two USB ports, Bluetooth v2.0 audio streaming and an auxiliary input jack, which all allow the user to connect iPods®, iPhonesTM and Blackberries®, for example. The audio unit utilizes a 30GB hard-disc-drive (HDD) system, so that music from CDs can be loaded onto the HDD for later listening. Gracenotes provides artist and track recognition.</p>
<p>A 7.1 surround sound system by the renowned British audio manufacturer Bowers &#038; Wilkins is standard on Supercharged and Supersport models and optional on the naturally aspirated XJ and XJL. This 1,200-watt audio system combines 20 speakers powered through 15 channels and state-of-the-art sound processing technology. The first automotive application of the Audyssey MultEQ XT® audio tuning system – adapted from high-end home theater applications – digitally corrects imperfections to deliver accurate and distortion-free sound for all seating positions. In addition, the new XJ’s Bowers &#038; Wilkins audio system marks the first automotive application of Dolby® Pro Logic IIx technology.</p>
<p>When the rear-seat entertainment package is ordered, passengers can view dual 8-inch LCD screens in the rear of the front headrests and listen using wireless digital headphones. A specially designed portable touch-screen controller allows passengers to select the entertainment source, with the two rear screens and all headphones controlled independently.</p>
<p>Advanced Chassis Dynamics</p>
<p>The XJ’s light but stiff structure provides a focused and responsive sporting character combined with the suppleness and refinement essential for a luxury sports sedan. The double-wishbone front suspension features weight-saving forged aluminum components and uses coil springs.<br />
The front subframe is directly mounted to the body for enhanced steering response and handling precision. The subframe-mounted, multi-link rear suspension features lightweight cast aluminum links and air springs. Air suspension provides a level ride height regardless of load, along with a high degree of comfort, without compromising the car’s handling agility.</p>
<p>The new XJ also uses the advanced Adaptive Dynamics active damping system that was first employed on the XF and XK models. This system automatically tailors damper settings to suit both road conditions and the way the car is being driven. It provides a range of damping between a firmer “sport” setting and a softer setting for ride comfort, delivering an optimal balance of body control and ride quality.</p>
<p>XJ models are fitted with 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels in six designs, some with the additional option of a polished finish. For the first time on a Jaguar sedan, wider rear wheels with lower profile tires are fitted (compared to the front wheels and tires), optimizing grip and enhancing the vehicle’s sporting stance.</p>
<p>Personalized Driving Performance</p>
<p>On the XJ Supercharged and Supersport models, Active Differential Control optimizes available traction at each rear wheel, improving acceleration on low-grip surfaces while enhancing cornering ability. The clutch-type differential uses an internal electric motor and ball-and-ramp mechanism and transmits torque to the wheel with the most traction. This proactive system differs fundamentally from conventional traction control, which uses the brakes reactively to counteract slip after it has occurred.</p>
<p>To tailor the driving experience, JaguarDrive Control™ offers three transmission modes: Normal, for a comfortable, leisurely drive; Dynamic, for a more sporting and responsive character, and Winter, for greater capability in low-grip conditions. Each mode changes the characteristics of engine response, transmission shifts, Adaptive Dynamics systems and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) intervention (and Active Differential Control on Supercharged and Supersport). In Dynamic mode, gearshift points are raised, and the suspension stiffens. In Winter mode, the transmission selects second gear to help provide greater traction from a standstill and lowers engine rpm and shift points. Winter mode also modifies the traction and stability control systems to help give the driver assured progress regardless of the weather.</p>
<p>Safety Systems and Driver Aids</p>
<p>The all-new XJ provides a comprehensive set of active safety aids, including Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Understeer Control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Engine Drag Torque Control. On models equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the Advanced Emergency Brake Assist uses the ACC radar to help calculate distance from and speed of approach to the vehicle ahead. The system is designed to pre-charge brake-line pressure to help minimize impact speed if a collision is predicted, with an audible warning to the driver. Two-stage driver and front passenger airbags, front side and curtain side airbags are complemented by anti-whiplash front seat structures.</p>
<p>Enhanced Visibility</p>
<p>The standard xenon headlamps are available with a system that switches the high beams on and off automatically in response to oncoming traffic and the prevailing lighting conditions. This feature is combined with adaptive lighting, which swivels the headlamps to follow the road when cornering. A standard radar-based blind-spot monitoring system alerts the XJ driver to vehicles in close proximity on either side. Standard front and rear parking sensors, with visual indicators shown through the touch-screen, and a standard backup camera aid visibility when parking.</p>

<p>Following a transformation for model year 2010 that introduced new-generation powertrains, new dynamic chassis systems and added luxury, the Jaguar XK sports car models enter the 2011 model year with a special edition, the XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupe. Limited to just 175 cars for the U.S. market, the XKR175 commemorates the 75th anniversary of the first cars to bear the Jaguar name.</p>
<p>New for 2011, all Jaguar models come standard with Jaguar Platinum Coverage, which includes for 5 years or 50,000 miles (which ever comes first) complimentary scheduled maintenance, no-cost replacement of basic wear and tear items including: brake pads and discs, oil and brake fluid changes and wiper blade inserts, 5 year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance.</p>
<p>XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupe</p>
<p>The Jaguar XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupe is painted Ultimate Black and is also distinguished by aerodynamic enhancements, including front and rear spoilers, side sills and a rear diffuser. The 20-inch Kasuga alloy wheels are exclusive to this special edition model and highlight the standard red brake calipers. Raising the electronically governed top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph exclusively for this special edition underscores the formidable performance capability of the XKR. All XKR models are powered by a 510-hp direct-injection supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that was introduced for the 2010 model year.</p>
<p>Inside the XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupe, the Charcoal leather trimmed interior is accented with Cranberry stitching and Piano Black veneer trim. All of the XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupes feature doorsill tread plates inscribed “XKR175 – 1 of 175.”</p>
<p>Advanced Engines, Advanced Construction</p>
<p>The Jaguar XK range includes the naturally aspirated XK and supercharged XKR models, each available as a 2+2 Coupe or Convertible. All models are based on a lightweight body shell architecture constructed from a combination of pressed, cast and extruded aluminum alloy components. These are riveted and bonded together using aerospace industry techniques adapted for automotive use by Jaguar. The advanced XK construction produces a body shell with very high structural integrity that is also the lightest in its class by a significant margin. The structure’s strength, rigidity and lightness provide the foundation for the Jaguar XK’s scintillating performance, as well as for its occupant safety systems.</p>
<p>The AJ-V8 Gen III 5.0-liter V8 engines introduced for model year 2010 and carried over for 2011 are the most advanced Jaguar has ever produced, and the most powerful ever offered in the XK models. The naturally aspirated version in the XK produces 385 hp and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. An XK Coupe can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The XKR’s supercharged version of this advanced V8 produces 510 hp and 461 lb.-ft. of torque. A twin vortex system (TVS) supercharger and twin water-cooled intercoolers are efficiently packaged in the engine’s V. The XKR Coupe can sprint from rest to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.</p>

<p>Jaguar tuned the XK’s exhaust sound for a deep, powerful character befitting a high-performance grand-tourer. The XKR is additionally equipped with an active exhaust system in which valves open at higher speeds to provide an even more powerful note. Also in the XKR, a special acoustic filter at the rear of the engine, tuned to “tenor C”, feeds intake sound to the cabin under hard acceleration.</p>
<p>All Jaguar XK and XKR models employ an electronically controlled, fully adaptive six-speed automatic transmission with the unique cast alloy JaguarDrive Selector™ as well as the Jaguar Sequential Shift™ function operated by steering-wheel paddles. The transmission is designed to be maintenance-free with “filled-for-life” fluid.</p>
<p>Cat-Quick Chassis Reflexes</p>
<p>In both the XK and XKR models, the Adaptive Dynamics active damping system optimizes handling agility and ride comfort. The system monitors body movement 100 times per second and wheel position 500 times per second and automatically increases the damping rate as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel. Adaptive Dynamics also controls wheel hop on uneven roads by rapidly varying the damping to move any wheel out of a natural bouncing frequency, benefiting ride comfort, handling and tire grip.</p>
<p>From the JaguarDrive Control interface, the driver can select different modes for Adaptive Dynamics. In Dynamic Mode, Adaptive Dynamics increases body control for a sportier feel and also provides more responsive accelerator pedal reaction and quicker gearshift responses. The Dynamic Stability Control system also offers four driver-selectable modes: Normal, Winter, Trac DSC and DSC OFF. Winter Mode yields a more damped accelerator pedal response for progressive control in slippery conditions, with different shift settings that delay and soften gearshifts, also for better control on low grip surfaces.</p>
<p>In the XKR, Adaptive Dynamics operates in tandem with Active Differential Control (ADC) to optimize available traction at each rear wheel, improving acceleration on low-grip surfaces while enhancing cornering ability. The clutch-type differential is operated by an internal electric motor and ball-and-ramp mechanism and transmits torque to the wheel with the most traction. This proactive system differs fundamentally from conventional traction control, which uses the brakes reactively to counteract slip after it has occurred.</p>
<p>Classic Jaguar Luxury</p>
<p>The XK and XKR interiors reflect Jaguar’s renowned craftsmanship and attention to luxury detail. All interiors are appointed with luxurious soft-grain leather with contrast stitching and offer a wide choice of interior color options. Wood veneers include a Rich Oak option for the XK alongside the classic Burl Walnut for both models. The XK also offers the choice of Ebony or Knurled Aluminum, while the XKR also offers Dark Oak or Dark Mesh Aluminum.</p>
<p>Heated and cooled front seats with 16-way power adjustment and memory are standard equipment on all models; the XKR models have a unique R-style seat design. The XKR’s instruments emphasize its performance character with red pointers, while all models feature white instrument gauge illumination.</p>
<p>The Convertible’s hidden roll-over protection system deploys instantly if sensors identify a risk, helping provide protection for the occupants. Its triple-lined fabric roof can be powered up or down in less than 18 seconds at speeds up to 20 mph. When lowered, it disappears into the bodywork behind the rear seats under a smooth cover. Raised, the top provides a level of fit that minimizes wind and other road noise even at high speeds and includes a luxurious interior finish nearly indistinguishable from a closed coupe. All XK and XKR models feature a standard Jaguar Suedecloth headlining.</p>
<p>As in Jaguar XF and XJ models, the XK models greet the driver with a “handshake” sequence. Get into an XK using the standard keyless entry and keyless start, press the pulsing start button, and the cast alloy JaguarDrive Selector rises from the console. When the engine is stopped, the JaguarDrive Selector lowers automatically.</p>
<p>Using the seven-inch touch screen, the driver or front passenger can access functions for the climate control, navigation system, Bluetooth® mobile connectivity and for Jaguar’s Portable Audio Interface, which are all standard. The Portable Audio Interface provides iPod® connectivity and enables connection of other music storage devices, through a USB port, to the audio system, with full touch-screen control.</p>
<p>All XK and XKR models come equipped as standard with a high-end Bowers &#038; Wilkins audio system featuring 525-watts maximum output, Dolby® ProLogic®II Surround Sound, Kevlar® midrange speakers and aluminum tweeters. Every new XK also comes wired for SIRIUSTM Satellite Radio. The only audio system option on the XK is HD Radio.</p>
<p>Standard Bi-Xenon™ automatic headlamps include a power wash function and dynamic leveling. Corner lights are activated by the turn signals to improve visibility while cornering, which can be further enhanced by optional Active Front Lighting. Standard equipment across the XK range also includes air sensors to optimize cabin air quality through the climate control system, keyless start, electro-chromatic fold-back exterior mirrors and front and rear Park Assist with touch-screen visual indicators.</p>
<p>Jaguar Safety</p>
<p>All XK models are equipped with front, front side and thorax airbags. Additionally, Jaguar’s front head restraint system helps protect against whiplash in the event of a rear impact.<br />
Jaguar’s Emergency Brake Assist is standard. On models equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the Advanced Emergency Brake Assist uses the ACC radar to help calculate distance from and speed of approach to the vehicle ahead. The system is designed to pre-charge brake-line pressure to help minimize impact speed if a collision is predicted, with an audible warning to the driver.</p>

<p>The Jaguar XF sport sedan enters its third model year with a major powertrain change; for 2011, the 5.0-liter AJ-V8 Gen III direct-injection engine, already standard on the XF Premium model, replaces the previous 4.2-liter V8 in the XF base model. As a result, the entry Jaguar now offers 385 hp and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, substantial increases over the 300 hp and 310 lb.-ft. for the 2010 4.2-liter model, and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. The 2011 Jaguar XF is the only car in its segment to offer an all-V8 engine lineup.</p>
<p>New for 2011, all Jaguar models come standard with Jaguar Platinum Coverage, which includes for 5 years or 50,000 miles (which ever comes first) complimentary scheduled maintenance, no-cost replacement of basic wear and tear items including: brake pads and discs, oil and brake fluid changes and wiper blade inserts, 5 year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance.</p>
<p>The AJ-V8 Gen III brings with it additional benefits to the base model with the inclusion of JaguarDrive™ Dynamic Mode and a service interval extended to 15,000 miles or one year versus 10,000 miles or one year for the previous engine. Dynamic Mode modifies the throttle, stability and transmission parameters (also Adaptive Dynamics on XF Supercharged and XFR) for a sportier driving experience. Front brake rotors are 0.15-inch (29mm) larger on the 2011 base XF, matching the XF Premium.</p>
<p>The 2011 Jaguar XF gains additional refinements for 2011:</p>
<p>    • Redesigned side mirror bases further reduce wind noise.<br />
    • XF base model now features standard Burl Walnut veneer interior trim; Satin American Walnut is a no-charge option.<br />
    • Heated windshield now available on all models; packaged with heated steering wheel on base XF and a standalone option on other models.<br />
    • 6-CD changer now bundled with optional Bowers &#038; Wilkins Premium Audio Package.<br />
    • 19-inch Caravela wheels from the XK now available as an option for the XF Premium (no-charge option if ordered with Portfolio Package).<br />
    • Artura wheels replace Carelia wheels as the 19-inch optional wheels on XF.<br />
    • JaguarSense® glove box opening sensor replaced by a pushbutton for more convenient operation.<br />
    • Black grille for XFR.<br />
    • New colors: Claret (not available on XFR); Polaris White replaces Porcelain (all models); Stratus Grey replaces Pearl Grey; Crystal Blue will replace Frost Blue in the first quarter, and Spectrum Blue is now available for the XFR.</p>
<p>XF</p>
<p>The Jaguar XF base model includes as standard a navigation system with voice guidance, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free calling, and Satellite Radio. The XF Premium increases the luxury quotient with standard active ventilated heated and cooled front seats, Jaguar Smart Key System™ with keyless entry; soft grain leather seating surfaces and soft grain stitched and tailored instrument panel and door top rolls; Blind Spot Monitor; Front Parking Aid, and Rear Camera Parking aid with guidance lines on display.</p>
<p>The XF Premium can be augmented with the Portfolio Package, which is subtly distinguished by its 20-inch Senta alloy wheels and Figured Ebony veneer interior trim. Additional standard luxury expands to include a heated steering wheel; electric rear window sunblind; 16-way driver and 12-way front passenger active ventilated heated and cooled front seats, and a Jaguar Suedecloth premium headlining. The door top-rolls and instrument panel are trimmed with contrast color twin-needle stitching, and premium carpet mats feature contrast edge binding and embroidered Jaguar wordmark.</p>
<p>XF Supercharged and XFR</p>
<p>The Jaguar XF Supercharged and XFR are powered by a 5.0-liter direct-injection supercharged V8 engine that delivers 470 hp and 424 lb/ft of torque and can accelerate the car from zero to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds; the XFR delivers 510 hp and 461 lb.-ft. of torque and can go from rest to 60 in just 4.7 seconds. A twin vortex system (TVS) supercharger and twin water-cooled intercoolers are efficiently packaged in the engine’s V.</p>
<p>The XF Supercharged and XFR models share key chassis technologies for optimum handling performance: Adaptive Dynamics and Active Differential Control. The Adaptive Dynamics active damping system optimizes both handling agility and ride comfort. The system monitors body movement 100 times per second and wheel position 500 times a second and automatically increases the damping rate as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel. Adaptive Dynamics also controls wheel hop on uneven roads by rapidly varying the damping to move any wheel out of a natural bouncing frequency, benefiting ride comfort, handling and tire grip.</p>
<p>Active Differential Control optimizes available traction at each rear wheel, improving acceleration on low-grip surfaces while enhancing cornering ability. The clutch-type differential is operated by an internal electric motor and ball-and-ramp mechanism and transmits torque to the wheel with the most traction. This differs fundamentally from conventional traction control, which uses the brakes to counteract slip after it has occurred. The XF Supercharged and XFR also share the same upgraded brakes and silver-gray calipers.</p>
<p>The XF Supercharged and XFR are equipped with the amenities found in the XF Portfolio, plus the 440-watt Bowers &#038; Wilkins Premium Audio Package and HD radio. Externally, the XF Supercharged stand apart with standard 20-inch Selena-style alloy wheels, quad polished exhaust tailpipes, a color-keyed lower rear valance, and a “Supercharged” trunk lid badge.</p>
<p>The 2011 Jaguar XFR is quickly recognizable with unique 20-inch Nevis-style alloy wheels; distinct front end design with a black mesh grille (new for 2011); chrome air intakes; &#8220;Supercharged&#8221; hood louvers; four polished exhaust tailpipes; an aerodynamically functional rear spoiler and side sills, and discreet &#8220;R&#8221; badge. A special acoustic filter at the rear of the engine, tuned to “tenor C”, feeds intake sound to the cabin under hard acceleration. The XFR exclusively offers performance-focused settings for the Dynamic Stability Control, allowing the experienced driver to extract more cornering performance.</p>
<p>The XFR features unique interior appointments, including an aluminum dashboard, satin or gloss wood veneers and twin-needle stitching on the instrument panel and doors. The XFR&#8217;s multi-adjustable sports seats have power adjustable bolsters, leather map pockets and an embossed “R” logo on the seat surfaces. The lower steering wheel spoke is also leather trimmed, with an R logo.</p>
<p>All Jaguar XF models employ an electronically controlled, fully adaptive six-speed automatic transmission with the unique cast alloy JaguarDrive Selector™ as well as the Jaguar Sequential Shift™ function operated by steering-wheel paddles. The illuminated stop/start button pulsates like a heartbeat until pressed, and as part of the XF’s “handshake” sequence, the JaguarDrive Selector rises from the center console, and the rotating dash vents silently open. When the engine is stopped, the JaguarDrive Selector lowers automatically. The transmission is designed to be maintenance-free with “filled-for-life” fluid.</p>
<p>Leading Edge Technology</p>
<p>JaguarSense allows touch-sensitive operation for the overhead light, and soft, Phosphor Blue interior mood lighting provides halo illumination around certain switches. Standard on the XF Supercharged and XFR and optional on others, the Bowers &#038; Wilkins 440-watt Premium Audio Package with Dolby® ProLogic® II surround sound and 14 speakers includes a hidden sub-woofer. The standard Portable Audio Interface allows simple, direct connection of iPods® and MP3 players with full control via the touch-screen or steering wheel-mounted controls.</p>
<p>The optional radar-based Blind Spot Monitor warns the driver when there is another vehicle nearby in a different lane. The optional Rear Camera Parking Aid provides a clear view of the area behind the car on the color touch screen when reversing; the touch-screen provides on-screen guidance lines that move according to steering wheel angle to indicate the area into which the car will reverse.</p>
<p>All XF models offer Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) as an option. Advanced Emergency Brake Assist uses the ACC radar to calculate both the distance from vehicles ahead and the speed of approach to those vehicles and pre-charges brake-line pressure. This can minimize impact speed if a collision is predicted, as well as give an audible warning to the driver.</p>

<p>Normally, I don&#8217;t like to put out spy shots (to management&#8217;s displeasure) or speculated renderings, but I love Leftlane&#8217;s work in the field.  Here&#8217;s the site&#8217;s rendering of the Jaguar XJC, rumored to be previewed as soon as the winter.  This is a car a little dear to me, as my first Jag experience was in an old XJ saloon.  (How I wish it was a &#8217;70s V-12 coupe&#8230;)</p>
<p>The XJC makes for a practical business move since just about every serious upscale marque is making a luxury coupe&#8211;BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac, Hyundai&#8217;s Genesis, Audi, and so on.  Jaguar has mounted a big comeback in the playing field, so we here at CarVersation expect this grand tourer to be a real contender in the field.</p>

<p>Looks like Jaguar and Land Rover can&#8217;t get a break.  The two sibling brands haven&#8217;t even been under Tata&#8217;s control for two years, and yet they have a shared loss of $1.1 billion.  The recession has taken a big toll of Jag and Rover sales, though you can expect to see an uptick for the former with the new XJ.  In order to prevent another flow of unemployed, the UK treasury is pushing a heavy bridge loan to keep the operations stable.</p>

<p>It was bound to happen.</p>
<p>The <em>Top Gear </em>gang has put BMW&#8217;s M5, perhaps the class-leader, up against the UK&#8217;s newcomer, the Jaguar XFR.  Both are medium-sized luxury-sport saloons vying for the same upscale audience.</p>
<p>Before checking out the clip, let&#8217;s look over the specs of the two contenders.</p>
<p>The rear-drive 4,010 lb. M5 is equipped with a 5.0 L V-10 engine, which puts out 383 ft.-lbs. of torque at 6,100 rpm&#8211;and 500 hp at 7,800.  The engine is attached to an automated-manual gearbox, helping to reach sixty in 4.8 sec.  The M5 is priced at a steep $86,000; with that, you get a finely built and surprisingly agile sedan matched only by a few.</p>
<p>The XFR is more conventional in its armament.  The Jag has a supercharged 4.2 L V-8 and a 6-spd. automatic transmission.  Not only is the 4.2 more powerful than the M5&#8242;s V-10, generating 510 hp, but it reaches its peak at just 6,100 rpm.  The torque figure is more dramatic: 461 ft.-lbs. at 5,500 rpm.  The Jag does have its drawbacks: yes, it is more powerful (and cheaper at $79,000), but it&#8217;s also larger (4 in. longer) and heavier by 300 lbs.  You <em>do </em>have the extra plus that it delivers a combined rating of 17 mpg over the M5&#8242;s 13.</p>
