(from BMW Press Release) Moving elegance. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.

Munich. The presentation of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe sees BMW venturing into a new vehicle segment once again. The third model in the BMW 6 Series line-up follows in the tyre tracks of the Convertible and Coupe, and is the first four-door Coupe in the history of the brand. The athletic elegance of the car’s design makes it a particularly handsome addition to the range. Powerful engines and sophisticated chassis technology combine to produce an impressively dynamic driving experience. And the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe also makes its mark with exclusive equipment features and a level of practicality unmatched by its premium four-door Coupe rivals.

BMW demonstrates its ongoing commitment to broadening the diversity of its model range with the presentation, for the first time, of a four-door Coupe based on the BMW 6 Series; BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe sets new benchmark in the top-class premium segment in terms of aesthetics, emotionality and modernity.

Unique combination of sporty driving pleasure, elegant design, exclusive interior ambience, travel comfort and practicality; the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe displays an – in some areas – significant step forwards in terms of design harmony, performance, equipment, practicality and integration; high-quality interior with generous levels of space and impressive seating comfort; third rear seat (4+1-seater); length: 5,007 millimetres, wheelbase: 2,968 millimetres; split/folding rear seat backrests allow boot capacity to increase from 460 litres to 1,265 litres.

Building on the aesthetically pleasing styling of the BMW 6 Series, the design of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe showcases its distinctive character; strikingly low-slung appearance.

Front-end design points to BMW 6 Series identity, individual character embodied by model-specific electroplated bars between the air intake and foglamps; twin round headlights with three-dimensional light rings, optional adaptive LED headlights; distinctive silhouette with flowing Coupe-style roof line and elegant take on the Hofmeister kink, complete with “Gran Coupe” lettering on the C-pillar; eye-catching rear emphasises the width of the car; LED rear lights in an L-shape – like the BMW 6 Series Coupe and BMW 6 Series Convertible; full-length third brake light above the rear window.

Exclusively appointed interior with driver-focused cockpit; door panels flow into one another seamlessly, providing a harmonious connection all the way from the instrument panel to the rear compartment; flatscreen Control Display; comfort-oriented rear seat backrest angle; seating position slightly higher than in the BMW 6 Series Coupe and BMW 6 Series Convertible.

(from H&R Springs Press Release) H&R Springs BMW 1M Coupe

The BMW 1M Coupe has and is being compared with the original (E30) M3, the car that defined the boy racer! The new 1M Coupe continues this heritage. Just one look tells you this is a very special car. It is a small car with huge wheels and tires to take advantage of the power and handling that is on tap. Its extremities bristle with aerodynamic features which sole purpose is to reduce turbulence and increase downforces creating a driving machine that slips through the air and sticks to the road.

This project is limited to a few high-end performance parts – H&R suspension, BBS wheels, Brembo Big Brakes and Continental tires. These brands are a perfect fit for this one of a kind vehicle. The associations of these products are easily recognized as the best of the best. Working with these well-known tuning companies adds to the uniqueness of the BMW 1M Coupe while retaining its true character.

H&R Suspension components are known for their quality and performance. This one-of-a-kind performance coupe has no equal and H&R ride development engineers have designed the H&R Sport Springs to give this amazing car the perfect stance and performance handling. The progressive spring rate provides superb ride quality and comfort. H&R maintains its natural connection with this phenomenal car by direct involvement with BMW Motorsport. We know BMWs and our products demonstrate this.

H&R Sport Springs for the BMW 1M (e82) lower approximately 1.2 inches front and 0.6 inches rear – eliminating the huge front tire and wheel gap, for a more homogeneous appearance. Lowering your BMW with H&R Sport Springs improves handling and provides that cool H&R stance.

In addition to the H&R Sport Spring, H&R Sway Bars have been included front and rear. The new sway bars are 27mm front and 23mm rear. These awesome bars have forged ends and are made from HF wire that is heat treated and shot peened – an industry exclusive.

H&R Trak+ Wheel Spacers perfectly space the wheels and tires in fender wells, and allow for wheel clearance of the big Brembo calipers.

With the reintroduction of the classic BBS RS wheels, the new BBS Super RS wheels are the only choice for the 1M. BBS has always been synonymous with BMW Motorsports making it a natural fit for this project. The BBS Super RS wheels measure 19×9” front and 19×10” rear. These wheels are fitted with Continental ExtremeContact DW tires, size 245/35ZR19 front, 265/35ZR19 rear.

The BMW 1M Coupe has great brakes, but the with addition of Brembo GT 380mm Big Brake Kit front & rear with cross drilled rotors the stopping power of the 1M is nothing short of breathtaking. Custom Motorsport Blue Calipers with white Brembo logos really stand out behind the BBS wheels.

Inside the WeatherTech® FloorLinerTMDigitalFit®accurately and completely lines the interior carpet giving “absolute interior protectionTM”! Digital laser measurements of interior surfaces offer a consistently perfect fit! A patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material allows for a rigid core for strength while offering surface friction to the carpet, as well as tactile feel to the surface! They look good and the keep 1M Coupes interior like carpet looking brand new.

(from Hartge Press Release) Award-winning Hartge H35d

Chosen by the readers of a renowned specialist magazine as the most sporting car of 2011 in the diesel category, the Hartge H35d is distinguished by an exhilarating performance. Hartge, an important manufacturer of BMW-based sports cars for 40 years, has coaxed a massive 354 hp (260 kW) at 3400 rpm from the 535d (F10). This increase of 54 hp compared to the standard car with its 300 hp (220 kW) has been achieved by a power-boosting module, which is not only highly efficient in terms of fuel
consumption but also results in max. torque of 700 Nm at 1800 rpm. Despite its high performance
potential, the Hartge H35d still falls in the ‘green’ area of the planned

German ecological seal with a CO2 emission of 162 g/km (Euro 5 emission standard). Thanks to the Hartge sports spring set, the H35d sits 30 mm lower than the standard car. And typical of Hartge is the ‘Classic 2’ wheel set. This ten-spoke wheel (8.5 x 21”, offset 34, at the front and 9.5 x 21”, offset 55, at the back) is fitted with Yokohama Advan Sport tyres (255/30 ZR 21 at the front and 295/25 ZR 21 at the back). The stainless-steel rear silencer with dual round tail pipes (80 mm diameter) generates a dynamic melody that masks the otherwise barely audible diesel sound. Design details
ensuring an individual appearance include carbon casings for the exterior mirrors, matt-silver stripes, a set of emblems for the bonnet and boot lid, as well as a discrete Hartge insignia.

Traditional is the Hartge range of products for the interior, which includes a threespoke sports leather steering wheel with a Hartge emblem in aluminium, a carbon steering-wheel cover, a two-piece set of aluminium pedals for the automatic transmission, stainless-steel sill covers front and rear and black velour foot and boot mats.

(from BMW Press Release) The new BMW 3 Series Sedan: Dynamic capability, efficiency and comfort are given the perfect stage.

    • New BMW face emphasises dynamic and elegant design.
• BMW 3 Series now available in three different equipment lines.
• Full-colour Head-Up Display for the sports sedan.
• Sporty suspension tuning with enhanced ride comfort.
• All engines with the latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.
• All engines can be combined with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
• Driving Experience Control with Eco Pro mode; Auto Start-Stop function included as standard.

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, the world’s best-selling premium car, sets new benchmarks in terms of sporting prowess, elegance and comfort. The pioneering history of the 3 Series serves as inspiration for the new sports sedan, whose powerful styling represents a fresh interpretation and conscientious development of traditional BMW design cues. The new BMW face, with flat headlights reaching along as far as the BMW kidney grille, emphasises the elegantly dynamic design of the new BMW 3 Series. The sixth generation of the 3 Series has grown in size compared to its predecessor, with its wide track (front + 37 mm, rear + 47 mm) particularly prominent, and the car’s increased length (+ 93 mm) and augmented wheelbase (+ 50 mm) also accentuate its sporting silhouette. Inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, the noticeable increase in space benefits the rear passengers above all. And the BMW 3 Series range is now also available in a trio of trim and equipment variants – the Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line. Each presents its own individual take on the character of the sports sedan, with exclusive, high-quality material combinations and unbeatable build quality underlining the premium ambience of the new range.

Drive and chassis technology have always been key areas of expertise for the brand, and agility and driving dynamics remain outstanding attributes of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The new car belies its larger dimensions with a kerb weight 40 kilograms (88 lb) below that of its predecessor. In addition to the sports performance typical of the brand, the further enhanced levels of comfort on board the new 3 Series make a significant contribution to driving pleasure.

A choice of four refined, economical and muscular engines – all of which feature new BMW TwinPower Turbo technology – will be available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan from launch. In addition to two further optimised diesel powerplants and the already successful six-cylinder petrol unit, customers can also enjoy the talents of the new turbocharged four-cylinder variant in the BMW 328i. This latest-generation petrol engine rewards the driver with a dynamic driving experience coupled with reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

BMW is the first carmaker to offer an eight-speed automatic gearbox in the premium mid-size segment. It can be specified in combination with any of the petrol and diesel engines in the range and links up with the Auto Start-Stop function that comes as standard. Compact and exceptionally efficient, it allows the new BMW 3 Series to match or outperform models fitted with the standard six-speed manual gearbox in terms of both fuel economy and emissions. The new eight-speed automatic brings together shift comfort, dynamic performance and efficiency of the highest order, making it the perfect partner for the new sedan’s dynamic potential.

As components of the BMW EfficientDynamics technology line-up, the Auto Start-Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Optimum Shift Indicator and need-based operation of ancillary components (including a disengageable air conditioning compressor) also play their part in reducing fuel consumption. Added to which, the new Driving Experience Control switch not only offers Comfort, Sport and Sport + options, but also ECO PRO mode, which gives all the models in the range the potential to further improve these figures. This switch helps drivers maximise fuel economy through their driving style, thereby enabling them to increase the distance they can travel between visits to the pumps. The same goes for the CO2-minimising BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition, whose peak output of 120 kW/163 hp contrasts with average fuel consumption in the EU driving cycle of 4.1 l/100 km (68.9 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. BMW will add further cutting-edge engines to the line-up in 2012, when the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will also celebrate its premiere.

Enhanced superiority, convenience and safety thanks to intelligent connectivity.

BMW ConnectedDrive offers an unmatched combination of driver assistance technology and mobility systems for the new BMW 3 Series range. A new arrival in the premium mid-size segment is the latest-generation full-colour Head-Up Display, which projects key information – in sharp resolution – onto the windscreen so it appears directly in the driver’s field of view. Also available is Surround View with Side View and Top View, which gives a bird’s-eye perspective of the vehicle and the area around it. In addition, a parking assistance system helps the driver to manoeuvre into parking spaces. Among the other assistance technology available under the BMW ConnectedDrive banner are Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, the Lane Change Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System with camera-based Collision Warning system, which are offered for the first time in a BMW 3 Series Sedan. Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI) and special apps such as “BMW Connected” for using social networks are also available. An innovative comfort access function allowing hands-free opening of the boot lid and the additional Active Protection occupant protection system are likewise included on the options list, as is Advanced eCall with automatic position finding from BMW Assist. In the event of an accident, this system gives the emergency services detailed information on the nature of the collision before they arrive at the scene of the accident.

At a glance.

The new 3 Series Sedan: sixth generation of the world’s best-selling premium vehicle accentuates the brand’s sporting character with its dynamic lines and athletic overall impression. The new 3 Series Sedan has also grown in terms of dimensions. Particularly striking are its wider track and, as a result, more impressive on-the-road presence. The flat design of the revised BMW kidney grille also serves to underline the car’s sporting feel. A modern interpretation of the classic three-box design with sweeping bonnet, short front overhang, long wheelbase and set-back greenhouse allows the new BMW 3 Series Sedan to project the dynamic allure typical of BMW in even more concentrated form.

    • Increased interior space: a 93-millimetre increase in length enhances the elegant, sporty silhouette of the 3 Series. The rear passengers also gain from the car’s increased exterior dimensions and are welcomed by extra legroom inside the rear doors as they climb aboard. There is also 15 millimetres of additional knee room behind the front seats, while headroom is up by eight millimetres.
• Classic BMW interior: the cockpit wraps around the driver with a typically BMW driver focus and ensures that all important functions are within easy reach. The impressive ergonomics, high-grade materials and consummate workmanship underline the premium ambience of every model in the range.
• Three equipment lines: the new BMW 3 Series Sedan is available in three equipment lines in addition to the entry-level version. The Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line allow customers to give their car a personal and eye-catching appearance and adapt it to their individual preferences. The careful coordination of equipment features embraces both exterior design elements and the selection of materials and colours for each model. An M Sport package with special exterior and interior features is in the pipeline for summer 2012.
• Outstanding performance and efficiency: powerful engines, top-class chassis technology and a body boasting impressive torsional rigidity allow the new BMW 3 Series to build on its position as the sportiest sedan in its segment. Ride comfort is likewise taken to a new level. Agility and driving dynamics remain specialities of the sports sedan and are key ingredients in the enviable driving pleasure it offers its owners.
• Improved vehicle handling and enhanced driving pleasure: a longitudinally mounted engine, rear-wheel drive and 50:50 weight distribution are traditional 3 Series features which have characterised driving pleasure in every generation of the car. Four torquey, refined and economical engines, all of which feature state-of-the-art BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, will be available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan from launch.
• BMW EfficientDynamics technology in action: noticeable increases in output are accompanied by reductions in fuel consumption and emissions – significant in some cases – over the previous-generation 3 Series. The Auto Start-Stop function comes as standard with all engine-gearbox combinations.
• BMW 328i with 2.0-litre displacement: its BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine fronts a new generation of light and powerful petrol units which fit the new BMW 3 Series’ dynamic concept like a glove. The state-of-the-art turbocharged powerplant develops 180 kW/245 hp and peak torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) from as low down as 1,250 rpm, accelerating the BMW 3 Series from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds. Average fuel consumption is just 6,4 litres per 100 kilometres (44.1 mpg imp).
• The BMW 335i is a gift to six-in-line fans: the BMW TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine with 3.0-litre displacement develops peak output of 225 kW/306 hp and maximum torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) at just 1,200 rpm, ensuring that the new BMW 3 Series outstrips the performance of its predecessor, while undercutting its fuel consumption and emissions.
More economical and lower in pollutant emissions: the high-output BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine puts an even more efficient foot forward. The cutting-edge unit gives the BMW 320d 135 kW/184 hp and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque and also powers the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition. Here it combines peak output of 120 kW/163 hp with average fuel consumption in the EU driving cycle of just 4,1 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (68.9 mpg imp).
• And finally, the first full-hybrid compact sports sedan will celebrate its premium segment premiere in autumn 2012. The new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will see innovative BMW ActiveHybrid drive technology blend with the sporting character of the BMW 3 Series to dynamic and efficient effect.
• Eight-speed automatic gearbox for all models: the new sports sedan comes as standard with a cutting-edge six-speed manual gearbox. An eight-speed automatic, which supports the Auto Start-Stop function, can be specified as an option in conjunction with all the petrol and diesel engines for the new BMW 3 Series.
• Driving Experience Control with ECO PRO mode comes with four driving programs: the new function allows the driver to choose between sporty, ultra-sporty, comfortable and extremely economical driving. ECO PRO mode helps drivers of all 3 Series models to maintain an economy-optimised driving style and therefore increase the distance the car can travel on each tank of fuel. Brake Energy Regeneration, the Optimum Shift Indicator, a disengageable air conditioning compressor in many models and the need-based operation of ancillary components all contribute to further reductions in fuel consumption.
• BMW ConnectedDrive gives safety a boost: a constantly expanding range of driver assistance systems responding to the most diverse driving situations ensure even greater safety and assurance. In a new development in this premium class, the new BMW 3 Series Sedan will be available with the latest-generation full-colour Head-Up Display. Safety is further enhanced by the Lane Change Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System. The Active Protection safety package, Advanced eCall and preventive occupant protection measures help to avoid accidents or, should the worst come to the worst, reduce their impact.
• BMW ConnectedDrive meets the most advanced standards of infotainment: high-functionality interface technology enables the driver and passengers to make extensive use of external mobile phones and music players inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. New Bluetooth office functions allow internet-based services such as weather, news etc., as well as calendar entries and text-based messages (SMS and e-mail), to be viewed in the Control Display of the iDrive operating system and read out via the Text to Speech function.
• Maximising comfort with BMW ConnectedDrive: comfort-enhancing technologies developed under the BMW ConnectedDrive umbrella include BMW Parking Assistant, Surround View, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Speed Limit Info including No Passing Info display, and Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI).
• A body structure boasting particularly high torsional rigidity and far-reaching active and passive safety systems provides maximum occupant protection. An intelligent lightweight body construction with flow-optimised underbody structure, Air Curtain technology – making its debut – for improved air flow around the front wheels, and sophisticated chassis technology with high light-alloy content play their part in laying on sporty handling, high agility and further enhanced ride comfort.
• A wide range of storage compartments enhance practicality: two large drinks holders are now integrated into the centre console ahead of the gearshift lever; these can be replaced by the oddments tray also included in the range of standard equipment. The front and rear door pockets now contain generous stowage surfaces, and the front doors have space for drinks bottles up to one litre in size. Boot capacity has increased by 20 litres. An optional through-loading system with 40:20:40 folding rear seat backrest offers flexible transportation solutions for bulky goods.

Three equipment lines shine the spotlight on the car’s distinct character traits. High-quality material combinations and unbeatable build quality underline the premium ambience of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The materials and colour concept of the entry-level variant already clearly accentuates the sporting character of the car, but a large selection of colours and upholstery variants also offer scope for various other options. From the basic matt satin silver surface treatment to fine brushed aluminium and the homely feel of fine burr walnut wood, all trim surface options can be combined with either the cloth or one of two leather upholstery colours in the entry-level model. As well as the basic trim level, the new BMW 3 Series Sedan can now also be ordered with any of three equipment lines or an M Sports package. Customers can therefore adapt the appearance of their car to their own individual preferences – with eye-catching results. The Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line equipment variants emphasise the different sides to the new BMW 3 Series Sedan’s character in their own individual ways. The exclusive, carefully coordinated equipment features embrace both exterior design elements and the selection of materials and colours for each model. In terms of value, design coherence and expressiveness, the new BMW Lines go far beyond existing packages in the premium class.

Sport Line: With eye-catching exterior features in high-gloss black, this new line accentuates the dynamic appearance of the BMW 3 Series Sedan. Eight heavily contoured black kidney grille slats in a chrome-coloured surround give the front end of the car a particularly sporty and alert look. The black inserts in the front apron make the air intakes appear larger and lend extra emphasis to the muscular wheel arches. 17 or 18-inch light-alloy wheels – depending on the engine variant – in double-spoke design (18-inch items are bi-colour) provide the athletic looks to match. Meanwhile, optional high-gloss black painted exterior mirrors and the standard high-gloss black B-pillar and window guide add an extra sporting flavour to the flanks. A black trim strip on the lower crease underlines the width-enhancing effect of the rear styling, while the tailpipe embellisher is likewise black and rounds off the exterior’s sporty appearance. The sporty and exclusive ambience of the interior is expressed by contrasting black and red accents. Red trim rings, red scales in the circular dials, red stitching on the sports steering wheel and a base trim strip in high-gloss black with coral red accent strips all underline the sporting ambience of the cockpit. The standard sports seats can be specified in a choice of three upholstery variants and four colours. The ignition key for Sport Line versions of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan is identified by its black finish and red detailing.

Luxury Line: The discreet high-gloss chrome elements of this line lend the exterior of the BMW 3 Series Sedan a particularly elegant and exclusive appeal. The BMW kidney grille with 11 fine chrome slats, two slightly offset chrome trim strips in the front apron air intakes, and a high-gloss chrome trim strip running horizontally above the air scoop give the front end a striking appearance. As with the Sport Line, the B-pillar and window guide come in high-gloss black, and the window frame and weather strip are in chrome. Special 17 or 18-inch light-alloy wheels in multi-spoke design accentuate the stylishness of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan when viewed side-on. From the rear, the new Luxury Line is easily identified by its exquisite, high-gloss chrome trim strip – which extends across the full width of the rear apron – and its chrome tailpipe embellisher. Chrome elements also catch the eye inside the Luxury Line variant. This is the only line which gives the radio and air conditioning units a chrome surround. High-gloss wood strips (with stylish inlays as an option) and seats with distinctive stitching and a choice of two upholstery materials in four classically elegant colours highlight an inviting, exclusive ambience. The ignition key (ID confirmation) for Luxury Line versions of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan can be identified by its black finish and chrome detailing.

Modern Line: In contrast to Luxury Line models, the high-class trim elements included in Modern Line versions of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan are all in satinated aluminium, underlining the contemporary character of this line. The BMW kidney grille, with 11 satinated aluminium slats, and double trim strips for the air intakes in the same colour give the front end of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan a particularly contemporary, classy touch. The car’s high-gloss black B-pillar and window guide blend smoothly with the satinated aluminium trim elements at the font and rear. 17 or 18-inch turbine-style light-alloy wheels strengthen the impression of this equipment line. The harmonious lightness of the interior dispenses with strong contrasts. Instead, with a light upper side to the dashboard and a steering wheel in dark oyster, it generates an all-new ambience. Leather upholstery or cloth-leather combinations in oyster or black, and a choice of three trim surfaces with accent strips in pearl-effect chrome, further enhance the appealing interplay between materials. A trim element with three-dimensional wood surface structure lays on a whole new feast for the fingertips. Modern Line versions of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan are marked out by the oyster-coloured ignition key (ID confirmation) with matt silver detailing.

(from BMW Press Release) Intelligence breeds efficiency: The BMW ActiveHybrid 5.

    – World premiere of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, the most powerful and efficient full
hybrid in its segment.

    – Exceptional balance between power output (250 kW/340 hp) and
CO2 emissions (149 g/km).

    – Prominent electric driving experience; range under purely electric power:
four kilometres (approx. 2.5 miles), top speed under purely electric power:
60 km/h (37 mph).

    – Coasting mode (with the engine switched off) active at up to 160 km/h (100
mph).

    – Forward-looking intelligent energy management.

    – E-boost function delivers extremely dynamic acceleration.

    – Stationary climate control as standard.

BMW takes the development of intelligent hybrid drive systems to the next level with the introduction of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 – another series-produced model in which a combustion engine and electric motor join forces to enhance both efficiency and the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 brings together a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, an electric drive system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox for the first time. The latest generation of BMW ActiveHybrid technology also adds precisely controlled – and therefore extremely effective – energy management to the mix. All of which gives the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 an exceptional balance of performance and fuel economy for the premium executive car class. Its drive system generates combined output of 250 kW/340 hp, allows the car to be driven on electric power alone up to 60 km/h (37 mph), accelerates the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, limits average fuel consumption to between 6.4 and 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres (44 – 40 mpg imp) and has CO2 emissions of just 149 – 163 grams per kilometre (figures according to EU test cycle, may vary according to the tyre format specified).

The 225 kW/306 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the same unit renowned for its free-revving capability, pulling power and efficiency in the BMW 535i. The electric motor, meanwhile, develops 40 kW/55 hp and is supplied with energy by a high-performance lithium-ion battery integrated into the luggage area.

A harmonious blend of power from the two drive systems is transferred to the rear wheels by the eight-speed automatic gearbox. In addition to its full-hybrid construction, which enables purely electric and therefore emission-free driving in urban conditions, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 boasts not only the sportiest performance in its market segment but also a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel economy over the BMW 535i.

In order to fully exploit the potential of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the intelligent energy management of the power electronics in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 uses a host of innovative functions to ensure the drive system runs efficiently. The lithium-ion high-performance battery is charged when the car is coasting or braking, the electric motor performing the role of a generator feeding energy into the high-voltage battery. By contrast, under acceleration the electric motor takes on a boost function. Here, it assists the petrol engine by generating an ultra-dynamic burst of power, lending the sedan’s sporty driving experience a noticeably sharper edge. Added to which, while coasting at speeds of up to 160 km/h (100 mph) in ECO PRO mode, the combustion engine can be switched off and fully decoupled. This coasting mode combines comfortable driving with optimum utilisation of the kinetic energy already generated. To avoid periods with the engine running at idle – at junctions or in traffic tailbacks, for example – the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is equipped with a hybrid start-stop function. Plus, the power electronics in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 are linked up with the standard-fitted navigation system Professional. This allows forward-looking analysis of the driving situation, enabling the drive components to be primed to deliver maximum efficiency (the effect may vary according to the quality of the available navigation data). All the hybrid-specific components of the drive technology and energy management systems have been developed specially for use in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5. The result is an extremely well-rounded overall concept, which also provides a convincing demonstration of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology’s qualities out on the road. Needless to say, all of the new hybrid components are designed to last for the life of the vehicle.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 sees the sporty yet elegant body design of the BMW 5 Series Sedan complemented by bespoke touches which highlight the identity of its drive technology. The “ActiveHybrid 5” lettering on the C-pillars, BMW kidney grille with galvanised slats and exhaust matt chrome tailpipes set the exterior apart from the other models in the range. Available as an option, meanwhile, are 18-inch Streamline light-alloy wheels displaying exceptional aerodynamic efficiency. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the only model in the BMW 5 Series line-up to be available in the exterior paint shade Bluewater metallic, and it also stands out visually from all other 5 Series variants with door sill strips bearing “ActiveHybrid 5” lettering, an aluminium plate on the centre console with the same ID, a bespoke engine cover and the visible “ActiveHybrid Power Unit” inscription on the special casing for the high-performance battery accommodated in the luggage area.

The selection of interior colours, upholstery and interior trim elements reflect the range offered for the other BMW 5 Series Sedan variants. And added to the standard-fitted array of comfort-enhancing features is not only the navigation system Professional, but also a 4-zone climate control system with stationary air conditioning. A wide range of driver assistance systems and BMW ConnectedDrive mobility services, as well as virtually all the other optional extras available for the conventionally powered BMW 5 Series Sedan, can also be specified for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5.

Innovative combination: award-winning six-cylinder in-line engine,
newly developed electric drive system.

This is the first time that a six-cylinder in-line engine has been included as part of a BMW ActiveHybrid system. The 3.0-litre petrol unit, which develops 225 kW/306 hp and peak torque of 400 Newton metres (295 lb-ft), represents a passport to increased driving pleasure and efficiency. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology of the six-cylinder engine, which has already won the international Engine of the Year Award two years in succession, comprises a twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Direct Injection and VALVETRONIC variable valve timing.

The synchronous electric motor of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is integrated into the housing of the eight-speed automatic gearbox, saving space. The link-up between the electric motor and gearbox is controlled by a clutch and the motor’s operating temperature is regulated by the combustion engine’s cooling system. The electric drive system develops 40 kW/55 hp and makes 210 Newton metres (155 lb-ft) of torque available from rest. The motor is supplied with energy by a lithium-ion high-performance battery, likewise specially developed for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5. The high-voltage battery is encased in a special high-strength housing and positioned between the wheel arches in the luggage area, providing it with optimum protection. It consists of 96 cells, has its own cooling system and offers usable energy capacity of 675 Wh. The integration of the lithium-ion high-performance battery into the luggage area reduces the load capacity of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 to 375 litres, 145 litres lower than that of a BMW 5 Series Sedan variant powered purely by a combustion engine.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 has both a conventional 14-volt power supply and a high-voltage supply with an operating voltage of 317 volts. They are linked up by a voltage transformer ensuring that maximum electric energy can be used to enhance driving dynamics and comfort in any operating phase. Like the electric motor, the air conditioning compressor is also fed with power from the lithium-ion high-performance battery exclusively via the high-voltage supply. This ensures a pleasant interior climate, even when the combustion engine is switched off – i.e. when the car is at a standstill, operating purely on electric power or in coasting mode. In addition, the stationary climate control function can be used to cool the interior before the engine is started up.

Intelligently controlled hybrid technology: unprecedented precision for superior efficiency.

Up to a speed of 60 km/h (37 mph), the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 can operate in all-electric mode for zero emissions in town. The lithium-ion high-voltage battery can store sufficient energy to give an all-electric driving range of up to four kilometres (approx. 2.5 miles) at an average speed of 35 km/h (22 mph).

The internal combustion engine is only started when the driver requires more power: it is then engaged automatically. The electric motor provides a “boost” function to supplement the engine when accelerating. Maximum combined power is 250 kW/340 hp, with maximum torque of 450 Newton metres. Under combined ICE/electric power, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 delivers a 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 5.9 seconds.

Hybrid-specific Auto Start-Stop function and coasting mode.

Thanks to the specially designed Hybrid Auto Start-Stop function, there are no compromises on comfort even when the vehicle is stopped in traffic for longer periods – after the internal combustion engine is shut off, the automatic climate control simply runs off the lithium-ion battery. When the driver releases the brake, the vehicle will restart on either the electric motor alone or the electric motor and the petrol engine, depending on the high-voltage battery’s current charge level and on how much power the driver wants.

Another innovation being pioneered in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 further improves efficiency by shutting the internal combustion engine down not only when the vehicle is stationary, or when driving in town, but also on overrun. In the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, this coasting mode is available at any speed up to 160 km/h (100 mph). Coasting mode switches off the petrol engine and disconnects it from the drive shaft. From this point on, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 continues moving soundlessly, with zero emissions and with no engine braking effect. The potential efficiency improvements are further enhanced by tyres with reduced rolling resistance. In coasting mode too, as with all-electric mode for urban driving, all safety and comfort functions remain fully operational.

Intelligent energy management with proactive analysis of the driving situation.

The advanced power electronics coordinate the operation of the internal combustion engine and electric motor with precise reference to the driving situation. For even more efficient energy management in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, this functionality has been extended to include proactive analysis of the driving situation. To support this, the power electronics are integrated with the standard-fitted Professional navigation system, which means they can access and analyse data indicating an upcoming change in external conditions or driver requirements at a very early stage. Based on this analysis, the vehicle can be prepared in advance for the relevant requirements so that all powertrain systems and the on-board electronics are managed appropriately and in such a way as to make the most efficient possible use of the available energy.

Factors that may cause a change in powertrain operating strategy include the topography of the route and speed limits. For example, if the system knows that a hilly stretch is coming up soon, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 can invest all the high-voltage battery’s electrical energy in providing supplementary driving power, since the battery will be recharged “at no cost” during the subsequent descent. On longer downhill sections the electric motor’s generator function, too, can be enlisted to recharge the high-voltage battery with no loss of speed. The operating strategy can also be managed so as to ensure that the high-voltage battery is as fully charged as possible when nearing the end of the journey, thereby increasing the electric driving range on the “last lap”.

The operating status of the powertrain components is shown in intuitive, model-specific displays in the instrument cluster and in the Control Display of the
BMW ActiveHybrid 5. As well as the energy flow and energy recuperation display, these include a further gauge next to the rev counter which shows the boost effect being provided by the electric motor during acceleration. A display in the iDrive interface provides a variety of information – for example on the lithium-ion high-voltage battery’s current charge level and the power-sharing between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor in the course of a journey.

Exceptional hybrid model, typical BMW 5 Series: highest standards
of driving dynamics, safety and comfort.

The chassis specifications of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include a double-wishbone front axle and integral rear axle, electromechanical power steering including the Servotronic speed-sensitive power assist function, a high-performance brake system and 17-inch alloy wheels. Dynamic Damper Control, featuring electronically controlled damping, is optionally available. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, which stabilises the vehicle by applying braking pressure and reducing engine power, also incorporates functions such as Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Brake Assist, Fading Compensation, a Dry Braking function and Start-Off Assistant.

The hybrid-specific safety features, which protect the lithium-ion high-voltage battery and the power electronics, are integrated in the BMW 5 Series’ elaborate integrated active and passive safety concept. In a collision, high-strength structural components and large deformation zones help to keep impact forces away from the passenger cell and also from the hybrid drive components. Other standard safety systems on the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include front and side airbags, side curtain head airbags for both rows of seats, three-point inertia-reel belts on all seats, belt force limiters and belt latch tensioners on the front seats and ISOFIX child seat attachments in the rear.

In the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, too, the standard-fitted Driving Experience Control switch offers not only Sport+, Sport and Comfort set-ups (as well as Comfort+ mode if the optional Dynamic Damper Control is specified), but also ECO PRO mode. The latter supports a particularly relaxed and fuel-efficient driving style, and makes more frequent use of all-electric mode. As an alternative to the standard-fitted automatic transmission, a sports automatic with faster shift times is optionally available.

BMW ConnectedDrive systems optionally available for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include Park Distance Control, a rear-view camera, Surround View, Adaptive Headlights, High-Beam Assistant, Speed Limit Info, BMW Parking Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition and the BMW Head-Up Display. Innovative technologies also allow in-car integration of the Apple iPhone, other smartphones and music players, and use of the Real-Time Traffic Information and Apps functions.

To further enhance comfort and individuality, the standard-specification 4-zone automatic climate control and navigation system Professional can be supplemented by options such as active seats, active seat ventilation, Comfort Access, the Smart Opener for the tailgate, the Soft Close Automatic function for the doors, a power-operated glass roof and high-end audio and rear entertainment systems.

BMW ActiveHybrid 5: intelligent technology points the way forward.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 features newly developed hybrid components that are combined for the first time with a six-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, and innovative functions for further improved efficiency and driving enjoyment. At the same time it broaches yet another market segment, taking BMW’s hybrid development work a further step forward. As always, BMW ActiveHybrid technology is offered in a form which is optimally adapted to the requirements of the particular vehicle concept and market segment.

(from G-Power Press Release) The most powerful BMW M3 in the world: G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS with 720hp Supercharged V8

After the 635hp-strong G-POWER M3 GTS caused a stir with the trade press and automobile enthusiasts, G-POWER unleashes another technical tour de force with its most recent creation – the G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS with SK III „Sporty Drive“ Supercharger System.

As demonstrated in G-POWER’s Supercharger Systems for the legendary BMW V10, the full potential of high-revving BMW engines and G-POWER superchargers can only be achieved through significant modification of the base engine. Fortunately, the V8 in the current BMW M3 (E9x) is essentially a „shortened“ version of the BMW V10 engine that G-POWER modified to create its world-record setting, 800hp G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR. Thus G-POWER is able to leverage the proven forged pistons from that engine and developed through G-POWER’s technology partner MAHLE. These pistons are produced exclusively for G-POWER using a strengthening technology developed by MAHLE‘s Formula 1 division. The connecting rods also received a birth-by-fire in the engine bays of the countless G-POWER SK III Supercharger Systems delivered worldwide in BMW M5s and M6s.

However, the SK III „Sporty Drive“ Supercharger System for the M3 differs from the M5/M6 Supercharger System with an additional highlight in the engine bay. The follow-on system to that featured in the BMW M3 GTS includes a modified crankshaft. This new crankshaft increases the displacement of SK III-equipped M3s by 15%, from 4.0L to 4.6L.

The resulting modified V8 then meets the latest evolution of the world’s best-known components of G-POWER M3 „Sporty Drive“ Supercharger Systems. At its heart is the flagship of the ASA Centrifugal Supercharger product line – the powerful ASA T1-723. A maximum pressure of 0.5 bar can now be achieved and feeds air to the BMW V8’s individual throttle butterflies through the use of the optional carbon fiber airbox. Weighing in at just 4 kg, the G-POWER Carbon Fiber Airbox is nearly 8 kg lighter than the standard cast-aluminum variant. A tailor-made cooling system for the SK III Supercharger System increases the capacity of the oil and water cooling circuits of the V8 engine to keep temperatures in check.

A titanium exhaust system made specifically for G-POWER ensures that exhaust gases are discharged quickly and with minimum back pressure. This system features free-flowing 100 cpsi metallic catalytic converters.

When prepared with these options, the G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS produces a peak output of 720hp and 700Nm of torque. That is enough to catapult the G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. From a standstill to 200 km/h it takes just 9.5 seconds. Power and drag reach equilibrium at a maximum speed in excess of 330 km/h.

G-POWER continues the trend toward lightweight construction initiated by the BMW M3 GTS with its „RS“-labeled aerodynamics program. After all, weight reductions improve performance and ensure greater driving pleasure. This G-POWER “RS” aerodynamic program, made completely of carbon fiber, not only reduces the vehicle weight, but also increases the aerodynamic downforce. To be specific, it offers a carbon front spoiler for more downforce with optional brake cooling ducts for ventilation on the front axle, while a trunk lid, made entirely of carbon fiber and including a 3-piece carbon rear spoiler, increases the downforce on the rear axle.

The G-POWER “RS” aerodynamic program is manufactured from an ultra-light and extremely stable carbon fiber in a gas-tight autoclave. This production matches the OEM standards of the automotive industry and guarantees a perfect fit and a flawless surface structure.

The carbon fiber G-POWER VENTURI hood also contributes to reduced weight. The starting point for the development of the G-POWER VENTURI was the technical necessity to remove heat from the engine compartment of the uprated engines as quickly as possible. Otherwise a loss of performance can happen, since the ECU (electronic control unite) makes use of diagrams with reduced degrees of ignition when a fixed temperature limit is reached, in order to safeguard the engine.

The “DYNAMIC VENTING” Technology of the G-POWER VENTURI hood vents the engine compartment dynamically, allowing the otherwise untapped performance potential to be achieved with no additional thermal stress. Performance enhancement can not be supported more efficiently.

When it comes to suspension systems, the G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS is fitted with the G-POWER CLUBSPORT coil-over suspension and weight-optimized 20-inch G-POWER SILVERSTONE CLUBSPORT forged wheels. The tires are Michelin Super Sport tires in the dimension 255/30 ZR 20 on the front axle and 295/25 ZR 20 for the rear axle to keep the vehicle in contact with the road. Braking is done with the G-POWER-ceramic brakes on the front and rear axle, which provide low-weight and reliable high-performance braking. „Fade“ is therefore a foreign word for the 6-piston brake calipers in front which bite on 396 mm rotors and the 4-piston calipers at the rear axle which clamp on 380 mm rotors.

Naturally, all of G-POWER products showcased on the G-POWER M3 TORNADO RS are also sold separately.

(from Manhart Racing Press Release) Manhart Racing – Manhart MH1 Biturbo

Top performance in miniature!

M3, M5, M6 … What was really lacking in this sequence was a smaller M1, which – with due respect to its famous predecessor of the same name – has now been officially called “1 Series M Coupé” by BMW. The engineers at BMW M GmbH are mighty proud of their smallest M-Racer, which thanks to an in-line six cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo-charging and direct fuel injection, sends out a whopping 340 hp on the crankshaft. Alongside so much power, even a Porsche Cayman R must back off.

As one of the foremost engine tuners in Germany, the Manhart Racing Company, led by the engine tuning icon, Günter Manhart, will offer from now on a completely remodelled 1 Series M Coupé. The Manhart MH1 Biturbo stands out with its standard consistent increase in power to 415 hp, which catapults it directly into the same league as the M3 Coupé and the Porsche 997 Carrera GTS. The in-house sports exhaust system, including down pipes and stainless steel silencers, ensures not only a few extra horsepower, but also an aggressive sound.

This is of course still by no means the end, for, so that high performance can also be efficiently reached without large losses in traction propulsion, Manhart Racing built an in-house specially tuned coilover suspension and a magnificent Concave One wheel-set. The exclusive MHR forged wheels rotates with 9×20 inch turn forward, on the drive axle in 10.5 x20 inch turns, in combination with a 245 and 295 Continental Sport contact 5 set of tyres. For more down-force on the front axle, there is also a fine, handmade carbon-fibre front splitter, including a central bar. In the rear section, Manhart has built in a diffuser on the 1M Coupé, made also of course from high-quality carbon fibre fabrics. A set of quality carbon mirror covers completes perfectly the changes to the exterior.

For the interior of the MH1 Coupé, the experts form Geilenkirchen offer sports performance seats in the front and an Alcantara rear seat at the back, both enhanced with red stitching.

Prices:

MHR full carbon fibre front splitter 1,990 Euro
MHR full carbon rear diffuser 1,820 Euro
MHR coilover suspension 2,580 Euro
MHR Concave One forged wheels
in 9×20 and 10.5×20 with 245 and 295 tyres
Complete set 7,499 Euro
Performance improvement up to 415 hp 3,900 Euro
MHR stainless steel silencers 1,890 Euro
Down pipes 799 Euro
MHR complete exhaust system 3,799 Euro
MHR performance seats 2,522 Euro
Decoration panel 399 Euro

When you combine a BMW X5, a 5 or 7 series, BMW’s M technology, and Hamann Motorsport, you get the X6 Tycoon Evo M. In other words, this SUV combines the size of the X6, the performance of its smaller sedan series, the technology and performance of BMW’s M line, and the all around taste of the Hamann Mortorsport aftermarket company. This exotic started life as a gunmetal gray X6M and was covered with exterior accessories and carbon fiber trim. This X6 is widened by 60 milimeters and sits on 23 inch wheels. On the performance side, the Tycoon Evo M pumps out 670 hp can can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. The interior can only be described through pictures.

For more information, see the press release below.

(from Hamann Press Release) HAMANN-Motorsport adds more extras to the TYCOON EVO M based on the BMW X6 M

HAMANN-Motorsport, the renowned specialist for exquisite BMW refinements, shows the BMW X6 M at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt. The masculine show piece on the HAMANN both in Hall 5 is the TYCOON EVO M based on the BMW X6 M with 670 hp / 493 kW and a top speed of 300 km/h.

The TYCOON EVO M – in special paint “gunmetal”

Looking at the TYCOON EVO M and its broad built shape whets one´s appetite. Especially the front mudguards and the rear extensions made of light component material contribute to this feeling. The car body is widened by an amazing 60 millimetres. Additionally, the HAMANN designers replace the sides with newly designed side skirts. An unmistakable hallmark of the front is the apron with four striking LED daylight running lights. The car body kit does not only enhance the look of the car, its enlarged air inlets the front and the carbon bonnet also provide an optimized air supply to the engine compartment. At the back of the X6 M, HAMANN replaces the original apron with a new own development which provides spaces for the earthy sounds produced by the sports exhaust system with centre double end pipes. Also new within the refining programme are rear lights with LED technology. The back of the TYCOON EVO M is perfected with shapely rear- and roof spoilers. All those components render a low-swirl air flow over the car silhouette and provide additional downforce.

Extensive performance plus thanks to optimised exhaust gas stream

In addition to the spectacular appearance of the TYCOON EVO M, the HAMANN engine department developed a powerful performance enhancement for the serial engine. The most important part for the power increase is the titanium high-performance exhaust system with catalyst replacement pipes which also renders a dynamic and earthy sound. A newly programmed engine map perfects the upgrade and owing to the removal of the 250km/h speed limit, the driver now has an unlimited driving experience.

Resulting from the modifications, the X6 M now has 670 hp / 493 kW at 6,000 r.p.m. and 950 Newton metres torque at 1,500 – 5,650 r.p.m. These are additional 115 hp and 100 Newton metres compared to the serial version. Therefore, the 4WD automobile accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 300 km/h.

Varying rim designs and sizes

Especially designed for the increased requirements of the TYCOON EVO M, the automobile refiner presents varying wheel designs and sizes. The style- and technology highlight is the most modern rim model UNIQUE FORGED GUNMETAL. The dynamic shape of the delicate, anodized cross spokes does not only render a dynamic and striking look, but also an even share of weight and therefore ensures higher bearing loads. HAMANN offers the 23 inch wheel in 11.0 x 23 at the front axle and 12.0 x 23 at the rear axle with tyres sized 315/25 R 23.

The HAMANN lowering kit further enhances the light alloy rims. Progressively coiled springs at the front axle and a refining kit for the rear axle lower the SAV´s centre of gravity by approximately 40 millimetres.

MOV´IT provides optimal deceleration

Especially for HAMANN, MOV´IT developed a CERAMIC high performance braking system which stands out by its orange coloured brake callipers. Now, 6 piston calipers in connection with brake discs sized 420 x 40 millimetres at the front axle and 4 piston calipers with brake discs measuring 380 x 32 millimetres at the rear axle render optimal deceleration and a perfect control of the gas pedal.

Exotic interior applications made of nanai salmon leather

In addition to the serial interior, HAMANN offers applications made of selected leather. The HAMANN upholstery department refine the floor space with noble chequer-shaped embroideries on the leather. Pedals and foot rests made of aluminium render motor sports flair and perfectly match with the illuminated door protection sills. A three-spoke sports steering wheel adds further dynamics to the overall impression of the TYCOON EVO M interior. For the X6 boot, HAMANN offers a tasteful and practical boot mat with chequer-shaped embroideries and a stitched logo.

(from AC Schnitzer Press Release) A Power Pack Beyond the Standard: The 1-series M Coupé by AC Schnitzer

High performance, outstanding technology and an authentic motorsport atmosphere are expressed in just one letter at BMW: M. First-class tuning for BMW comes in several letters to form one name: AC Schnitzer. With the 1-series M Coupé, BMW has unleashed a power pack with athletic design onto the road. The Aachen-based tuning experts AC Schnitzer reveal their own interpretation of the coupé with racing genes at the IAA in Frankfurt.

The heart of the 1-series M Coupé by AC Schnitzer is the power upgrade from a standard 340 to 400 HP. Together with the AC Schnitzer power plant and engine bay styling, this is available – like the AC Schnitzer Bonnet Vents – only for the export market. Here in Germany, the AC Schnitzer twin sports rear silencer with chromed “Racing“ tailpipe trims right and left helps the six-cylinder engine breathe more freely and creates an individual sound picture to suit the sporting image.

The increased power is balanced by the AC Schnitzer high performance brake kit for the front and rear axles. A 6-piston fixed caliper on the front and a 4-piston fixed caliper on the rear combine with perforated, internally vented brake discs and caliper holders to ensure rapid and stable deceleration for such a power pack.

Safe cornering is ensured by the AC Schnitzer racing suspension, which is fully height-adjustable. The threaded suspension, adjustable both in compression and rebound, provides total control and maximum agility and dynamism.

As well as pure power, the 1-series M Coupé by AC Schnitzer also comes with aerodynamic components. A carbon front spoiler, chromed front grille, carbon rear diffusor and the AC Schnitzer design elements on the front wings show what can still be achieved in the 1-series when it comes to high performance and motorsport ambience.

In the interior too, AC Schnitzer is taking a step beyond the standard. The painted centre console and interior trim in “Valencia Orange“, the AC Schnitzer “Black Line“ aluminium gear knob and handbrake handle and the “Black Line“ aluminium cover for the i-Drive system controller leave almost nothing to be desired inside the 1-series M Coupé. But it that’s not enough, you can also add the AC Schnitzer aluminium foot rest and pedal set, and velour foot mats for the passengers and perhaps even lay your hand on the AC Schnitzer sports steering wheel in alcantara.

The 340 or 400 HP are delivered via the transmission to the wide, weight-optimised 19 or 20-inch wheels. Choose from Type VIII and Type V forged alloy wheels in BiColor, Type VIII and Type IV wheels in BiColor and Type IV in silver with corresponding tyres to transfer the power to the road. Once there, letters and name come together to form a whole representing the ultimate in technology and style: the AC Schnitzer ACS1 Sport Coupé.

The new 6 series BMW doesn’t seem to be as successful as previous versions, although AC Schnitzer provided us with a tasteful accessory package. AC Schnitzer offers an extensive lineup of aftermarket parts including aerodynamic packages, tuning, wheels, interior, etc. This 650i Cabriolet has been given an upgrade from 407 to 540 hp, performance 8 piston brakes, front spoiler, chromed front grille, rear skirt insert, and a complete interior upgrade.

(from AC Schnitzer Press Release) Strong Presence Between Sky and Road

AC Schnitzer presents a complete range for the 650i Convertible

Since spring this year, the new BMW 6-series has been providing airy driving pleasure between sky and road. The open 6-series fun is now enhanced by Aachen company AC Schnitzer with its tuning range for the 650i Cabriolet, which celebrates its premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt this year.

Top down driving pleasure and aerodynamics have not been mutually exclusive for some time. This is proven by the tuning experts with aerodynamic components previously unavailable in this form. Front spoiler, chromed front grille and chrome decor strips can be fitted individually or as a harmonious set to realize the dream of an individual sporting vehicle. AC Schnitzer also offers a rear skirt insert and loading lip protection film to give the bodywork of the 6-series cabrio that finishing touch.

In the engine too, no technical know-how has been spared with a wealth of innovations. The 650i Cabrio by AC Schnitzer has been given a performance upgrade taking it from 407 HP (standard) to 540 HP. Now the eight-cylinder engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Added to this is the AC Schnitzer power plant and engine bay styling, which demonstrates the power of the engine even when stopped. The AC Schnitzer twin sports rear silencer with chromed “Sport Trim“ tailpipe trims right and left means that the 650i can also be seen and heard from behind.

For the export market, the Aachen tuning experts have developed an 8-pot high performance brake system for the front, in response to the increased driving power. The 8-piston fixed calipers on right and left, and the 8-piece set of brake pads with caliper holders together ensure that the “open-topped rocket” scrubs off the speed quickly and safely. The driving dynamics are further assisted over bumps by the AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit.

In the interior too, the 650i by AC Schnitzer lives up to its exterior promises. Interior trim painted in matt space grey, a sports airbag steering wheel, the AC Schnitzer “Black Line“ aluminium cover for the i-Drive system controller and the AC Schnitzer aluminium foot rests and pedals, together with boot and foot mats in velours, ensure that the driver of this cabrio enjoys a feeling of exclusivity.

The wheelarches can be perfectly filled with AC Schnitzer wheels and corresponding tyres in Type IV BiColor or silver, Type V forged alloy rims in BiColor or Type VIII in BiColor or as forged racing rims in BiColor. A totally new addition to the range is the Type VIII forged alloy wheel in BiColor in 21-inch, which weighs in at just a sensational 11.5 kg (9.0J x 21″) or 11.9 kg (10.0J x 21″). So in comparison with standard wheels (star spoke 311) in 20-inch, these offer a weight saving of 30%. And that’s despite the fact that the AC Schnitzer Type VIII forged alloy wheels are a full inch larger.

A strong presence between sky and road which will certainly not pass unnoticed at the coming IAA.
