After Months of Hype…New Infiniti M Leaves Drab Impressions

Nissan’s Infiniti luxury division spent months hyping its 2011 “M” sedan by releasing teaser images, bit by bit.  In what’s become an unwanted trend, the product behind all the hype has failed to live up to the wild expectations it’s created.

The ’11 M appears more as a facelift to the existing sedan, rather than an all-new showpiece.  The ’11 M will be an improvement over what is already a fine, but rather ignored, luxury sedan; powertrains will be a base 3.7 L V-6 or an optional 400 hp 5.6 V-8.  Pricing is unknown.

It seems that we’re not the only ones put off from all the Nissan’s promoted.  Here are just a few of the responses we gathered from the Web:

Autoblog:

  • “Oh please. BORING looks- could be from anyone- including Hyundai or Kia…. totally anonymous.”
  • “A blown up Hyundai Elantra, fersure.”
  • “extremely disappointed. The brush stroke profile hinted at a shooting brake like the EX35…this is just more of the same…..lame.”
  • “Buick.”
  • “I like the seat…. that’s about it.”
Motor Authority:
  • “Im disappointed.”
  • “It reminds me of the Hyundai Azera sadly.”
  • “Not to impressed with the styling…”
Leftlane:
  • “Hmm that’s disappointing. I think I prefer the current one even if it has aged rapidly.”
  • “It kind of looks like a Hyundai Genesis. Just another asian semi luxu sedan.”
  • “The Germans and Lexus have nothing to worry about.”
