Nissan Snaps Over Chevy Volt Numbers
Looks like Nissan execs aren’t happy with all the buzz around the Chevy Volt. Just yesterday, car blogs all over the Web sprang to life over GM CEO Fritz Henderson’s claim the Volt will achieve 230 mpg in city driving. Well Nissan’s media team isn’t impressed: the company’s claiming its all-electric Leaf sub-compact will equate to an EPA rating of 367 mpg. That seems odd since, technically, the Leaf shouldn’t be employing an EPA mileage standard. To give GM another little burn, Nissan’s emphasized the Leaf’s much lower price tag, estimated to be as much as $15,000 less than the Volt.
