A Look at the 2010 Opel Astra
Opel officially put out its press release for the 2010 Astra. The Astra is one of Europe’s best-selling cars, outmatched only by VW. The new Opel hatch follows the sleek “wing and blade” theme found in the new Insignia. The result, you can see here, looks good.
The Astra will be a tech tour-de-force with a front camera that recognizes lanes and signs and warns the driver if he or she veers off course; an adaptive lighting system to change levels depending on outside conditions for optimum driver visibility; and a “FlexRide” drive program can operate on a simple standard, brisk Sport, or relaxed Tour mode. Eight engines will be offered: four gas, four diesel. The gas engines will range from a 100 hp 1.4 L inline-four to 180 hp 1.6; the diesels will start off with a 95 hp 1.3 to a 2.0 L making 160 hp.
The big deal? There’s a good chance the Astra will come to the US as a Buick.
