Tesla Motors Designing New GT
Tesla Motors’ electric Roadster is based on the lightweight Lotus Elise; in keeping with that breed, Tesla’s next sporty car will adopt the four-seat Evora’s layout. The proposal is still in its infancy, but Tesla management is seeking to make its future vehicles as widely appealing as possible. The two-seat Roadster is simply too limiting and expensive to be the cash cow execs want; a four-seat grand tourer would be a more logical route. The GT plan actually seeks to tackle the specs of Porsche’s venerable and ever-popular 911. The rear legroom would be extended, as well as trunk space, and performance.
