Earlier we wrote about AutoPits(click here to see) GT-R comparison, well heres a new one. The Arrival of the Nissan GT-R is making a lot of people curious and everyone is trying to compare it to other cars on the track. The crew from road and track recently transported a U.S. market version of the 2009 Nissan GT-R, a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo and a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to Buttonwillow Raceway in California for a little fun. They didn't drive the cars, they brought 12 Hours of Sebring race winner Steve Millen along to be the pilot. They did a few laps around the track and did the typical 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile, skidpad, slalom and braking tests were also performed, but proved to be ill-equipped in distinguishing the competitors. The lap times really told the story with the Porsche clocking in at 2:02.1, the Z06 right on its tail at 2:02.02 and the GT-R well ahead at 1:56.9. Just amazing, but i wish they'd really compare the GT-R to something its own size like the Porsche GT-2 and maybe a corvette ZR-1 if they can get their hands on it.[Source: Auto Blog]

  2. How is the GT2 and the Corvette ZR1 something the “same size” as the R35 GT-R ?

The ZR1 will be a $100,000 car ,the GT2 is a $200,000 car. The last time I checked the MSRP for the GT-R is $70k.

  4. tyndago- you’re 100% right, but latest track tests compare it to the M3 and other cars, which you’re right are in same price range but M3 isn’t a super car. I’m all for the GT-R just want to see how it compares to the GT-2 and ZR-1 as a curiosity test.
