EMA 2007: Chrysler Barracuda Concept

Unless you’ve got an uncle on the verge of buying the farm or Grand Canyon deep pockets, you won’t be able to pick up an actual ‘Cuda anytime soon. According to a Chrysler exec on hand at SEMA, the Barracuda concept is a one-off production car built for one of those overtly wealthy gearhead. We don’t have any details on who this mystery magnate is, but with a 6.1-liter HEMI, a body entirely molded in carbon fiber, six piston Brembo brakes and a set of 22-inch Zenetti five-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZeros, it’s guaranteed that he (or she) will be enjoying laying rubber around his private estate.

While the full carbon fiber body is trick and the Lambo orange paint makes the ‘Cuda “pop,” we’re baffled that the interior is pulled straight from the Charger SRT8 parts bin. Figure this car is worth more than its weight in unobtanium and you’d think that a few extra bucks for some Alcantara and Recaros wouldn’t do much damage to the bottom line.

SEMA 2007: Nissan Altima Coupe Turbo

While we’re just beginning to see a few Altima Coupes around town, once sales begin to head northward we’re expecting the new coupe to become one of the darlings of the aftermarket. The Altima Coupe’s sleek lines coupled with Nissan’s 3.5 liters of V6 perfection are a solid foundation with which to begin, and Turbochargers.com has done exactly that. The VQ-series V6 gets a GTK650 turbo setup by Artisan Performance, supposedly good for over 450 HP. Fuel delivery comes courtesy of a new fuel rail and 650cc injectors, while charge temps are kept low through a custom intercooler. Although the 20×8.5-inch wheels are all show, the AP racing 13-inch, four-piston calipers are the business.

You can read through all the details in the press release after the jump and check the gallery below for a handful of high-res images.

Young and Old team up for Germany at Race of Champions

Young and Old team up for Germany at Race of Champions

Every year the Race of Champions makes for an enjoyable spectacle. The event, set to take place this year on December 16 at a tarmac-filled Wembley Stadium in England, pits drivers from all different forms of motorsport against on another to determine who is the best of the best, alongside a second competition, the Nations Cup, in which two drivers from each participating country strive for the glory of their homeland.

The team to watch this year is Germany, which puts together one of the most promising young drivers with the most decorated old champion. Sebastian Vettel, who recently left his test seat at BMW-Sauber for an impressive race debut with the erstwhile back-marker Scuderia Toro Rosso, will be teaming up with seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

It’s not the first time the two have crossed paths, but it is the first time the two will be racing together. Aside from both driving Ferrari-powered F1 cars for Italian teams, the two played together in the Nazionale Piloti soccer tournament in Italy, and Schumacher presented an up-and-coming Vettel with the trophy at a karting race years ago. Schumacher made his F1 debut when Vettel was only four years old, and it’ll be interesting to watch the two race back to back for victory at the settling of the drunken bar bet of the year.

General Motors has already released several images of vehicles it will be showing at SEMA this week, and it appears that GM has plenty more in store. The automaker has just released images of two Hummer models that it will be displaying in Las Vegas: the Hummer H2 Safari and the Hummer H3R.

Hummer H2 Safari

The Hummer H2 Safari is designed to offer a unique, open-air experience “to those who want to experience as much of the outdoors as possible.” The custom H2 is painted in a matte olive finish — which is designed to help the SUV blend in with nature — and features a retractable canvas roof panel.

Other highlights of the Hummer H2 Safari include 20-inch wheels, a heavy-duty suspension with a two inch lift, Euro-style smoked light lenses with LED lighting, removable rear windows and a 6.2L V8 with 393 horsepower.
